Наводнение в США усиливается, под воду уходят Техас и Луизиана.
В ближайшие часы в зоне действия урагана «Харви» ожидаются новые затяжные ливни. Уже начался контролируемый спуск воды двух водохранилищ, где возникла опасность, что дамбы не выдержат напора стихии.
Огромная богатая Америка оказалась бессильной перед стихийным бедствием, и сейчас все правительственные чиновники снимают с себя ответственность за воцарившийся хаос.
Закрыты два аэропорта Хьюстона, остановились крупнейшие нефтеперерабатывающие заводы, прекратилось автомобильное движение, власти предупреждают горожан не выходить на улицы, где образовываются водовороты.
В ряде мест первые этажи зданий затоплены, и жители перебираются на чердаки, но их предупредили иметь возможность пробить себе путь на крышу, чтобы не оказаться заблокированными.
Жители Хьюстона передвигаются по улицам, кто на чем может, на надувных лодках, на самодельных плотах. Имевшиеся в распоряжении спасательных служб лодки быстро закончились. Городу угрожает острая нехватка питьевой воды и продуктов питания, так как Хьюстон оказался отрезан от путей снабжения.
Огромный город даже частично не был вовремя эвакуирован, и властям нужно как-то поддерживать жизнь миллионов оставшихся в нем людей.
На данный момент задокументировано 2 случая смерти: женщина, погибшая во время вождения машины и мужчина, сгоревший в своем доме в результате пожара, вызванного ураганом. Однако речь идет о, как минимум, 5 смертях, 40 человек пропали без вести.
По информации, предоставленной губернатором штата Грегом Эбботом, уже выпало 51.88 инчей ( 1 метр 31 см) осадков(!), и еще может выпасть около 40.
«Многие ручьи, реки и заводи вышли из берегов и преодолели прежний рекордный уровень», — заявили синоптики.
Хьюстон превратился в реку. Люди уходят по одной из немногих не затопленных улиц, неся в руках детей, животных, и почти ничего из вещей: ураган унес у них все, но оставил жизни.
«Я жила в квартире на первом этаже и потеряла всю свою мебель, все свое имущество», — говорит местная жительница.
Из зоны бедствия ни улететь (два аэропорта затоплены), ни уехать, перекрыты 250 дорог. Мужчина пытается покинуть зону бедствия, но его автомобиль сносит водяной поток, поэтому спасается через окно. Уровень воды таков, что уже не видно дорожных знаков.
Ужасающая ситуация в доме престарелых: пенсионеры, прикованные к инвалидам обреченно ждут помощи. Воды уже по грудь. В итоге их удалось эвакуировать, но полиция заявляет, что всем помочь не сможет, т.к только в Хьюстоне проживают 2 млн. человек. Люди обрывают “горячие линии” службы спасения в надежде о помощи.
В последний раз подобный уровень ущерба от стихии США потерпели в 2004 году от урагана “Чарли”, унесшего жизни 16 человек. Ущерб тогда оценивали в $16 млрд.
